"저희 어머니는 이제 등록금이 저렴한 국립대만 가라 하시는데 어디로 가야죠? 전북대를 그러면 이제 가야 되겠다. 어디가 제일 센가? 점수가 너무 남으니까 어디로 갈까? 치대가 저희 제일 셌습니다. 치대가 전북대 제일 센 거예요. 그래서 뭐 하는 데냐 그러니까 치아를 고치는 데. 근데 태어나서 치과도 한 번도 안 가봤어요."6

"These days, most of my lectures are about extracting wisdom teeth."

"I say I graduated first in elementary and middle school, but there were only 15 graduates in my elementary school. In middle school, about 80-100 graduates. Still, I was number one... In high school, I was about 4th out of 400 students in the science track."

However, his decision to attend dental school was surprisingly coincidental.

"My mother insisted I go to a national university with low tuition fees, so which one should I choose? Jeonbuk University, then. Which program is the most competitive? Since my scores were quite high, I wondered where to go. Dental school was the most competitive at Jeonbuk University. When asked what they do there, they said they fix teeth. But I had never even been to a dentist in my life."6

The Special Strengths of a Dentist with a Comedy Background

Dr. Kim says his experience as a comedian greatly helps him communicate with patients as a dentist. It's especially effective in relieving patients' tension and creating a comfortable atmosphere.

"Patients are really easy to make laugh. Because they have their mouths open and I'm the only one talking. So they burst into laughter..."
